11 July 2014 - The Labour (HIV/AIDS) Regulations

The Labour (HIV/AIDS) Regulations, 2014 were published in this Gazette in Statutory Instrument No. 105/2014.  The Regulations criminalise the discrimination of any persons or stigmatization of workers in particular job seekers and job applicants on the grounds of real or perceived HIV status.  The Regulations state that it shall not be compulsory for any employee to undergo directly or indirectly any HIV testing.  The Regulations further state that all employers must endeavour to ensure that they have information, education and communication programs on HIV and AIDS in the workplace.  A failure to abide by any of the conditions stated in the Regulations may result in a person being found guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding Level 14 which is the highest level of fine that can be imposed or imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or both the fine and imprisonment.



11 July 2014 - The Toll Roads (Regional Trunk Roads Network) Amendment

The Toll Roads (Regional Trunk Roads Network) Amendment (Regulations, 2014 (No. 5) were also published in this Gazette.  The Regulations provide for the increment of Toll fees.  For the light motor vehicles, the fees have increased from US$1 to US$2 and the heavy vehicles fees have increased to US$5.
