The Exchange Control (General) (Amendment) Order 2014 (No. 5) was published in Statutory Instrument 156 of 2014. The Order amended section 13(1)(c) of the Exchange Control (General) Order, 1996, published in Statutory Instrument 110 of 1996 by deleting the words “ten thousand United States dollars” and substituting with the words “five thousand United States dollars”.


The section 13(1)(c) now reads;

  • “13(1) For the purposes of section 20 of the principal regulations- a) The maximum amount of foreign currency that may be taken out of Zimbabwe on the person or in the baggage of a person who is leaving Zimbabwe is five thousand United States dollars or its equivalent at the current rate of exchange”.
